We Don't Need Tinubu and Akande - APC Spokesperson

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has explained why its national leaders, Bola Tinubu and Bisi Akande were not invited to a dinner with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, January 18. The APC said there was no need for the presence of both leaders at the meeting which took place at the residence of President Buhari two days ago. Punch reports that the spokesperson for the APC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Tinubu and Akande would have been at the dinner with the president if there was a need for their presence.
Abdullahi said although he is not sure of the criteria used in selecting top party members, there should not be much fuss over their absence. He said: “I don’t know what parameters they used to invite people to the meeting so I cannot say whether there was a reason why they (Tinubu and co) were not at the meeting. But I am sure that if there was a need for them to be a part of the meeting, they would have been there.” Also speaking a media aide to Tinubu, said the APC's national leader would not hestitate to attend a meeting called by the president. Tunde Rahman said: "There shouldn’t be any issue about this at all. “Why are you trying to make a mountain out of a molehill? If there was a need for Asiwaju Tinubu to attend the dinner, he would not hesitate to be there.
“He had attended many meetings and dinners at the Presidential Villa before when it was required of him to attend," Tinubu's media aide noted. However, a source close to Akande said he is sure the APC chieftain would not turn down such an invitation. “I am sure that Baba would not turn down such an invitation from President Buhari if he had been invited to the said dinner. “You know that Baba Akande clocked 79 on Tuesday and he is around. I am sure to a very large extent that he was not invited to the dinner. He would have honoured the invitation if he was invited," the source said.

'We sold our home to build a social network'

Zoe Kleinman The Hughes family in Manchester have quit their jobs and put everything they own into building a social network aimed solely at sports fans. But can they take on the giants? "We see ourselves sitting at the top table with the big boys," says father Perry Hughes confidently. "We don't think we're taking on the competition." It might sound optimistic to put your family business in the same league as the multi-billion dollar social networks but the Hughes family certainly have the passion to give it a go. Their big idea is GameDay Xtra, which has the bold ambition of hosting a page for every single sports team and player in the world - with even the humblest of leagues able to share their own news. Son Sam, 21, has suspended his university studies and works through the night on the project. Daughter Mollie, 18, handles the social media side. GameDay is purely for sports fans, the family say.
